By the way…
Tricks of this month:
If you’ve got a new jeans and its colouring the sheepskin fleece of your shoes, use Vanish Oxi Action carpet cleaner. If the jeans is coloring your rough leather bag, use Dirt eraser pads. Try on a hidden spot first though. And use it carefully. Gently. Cleaned Mr. Beefcake. And afterwards use a serious amount of leather fat.
Who would have thought… Online cleaning advice 🙂
Anyway. Treat time is over. The stuff costs. And its so cliché. Bags and shoes. Ughhh…
Since ages nothing interesting happened on the perfume market. I stroll around my favorite perfume shop once a month to see if something core shaking came up, but since Dior Homme Intense simply nothing. So I just sticked to Gucci Homme, Dior Hypnotic Poison, Dior Homme Intense, Tom Ford Black Orchid and the absolute last drops of Gucci Envy For Homme (discontinued).
So a week ago I needed to make a buy-no buy jewelry decision and strolled endlessly around some shops to figure out what to do, and there was a display of a perfume called Wonderwood. What a promising name! It held its promises, and I added it yesterday to my collection.
There is also a movie on YouTube which was launched with the perfume.
According to the press all the celebs seem to have one. Now I have one too. Does that make me a celeb???
I’m talking about a Flip Mino HD (currently available at Digitec). It’s a digital video camera the size of a mobile phone. It’s extremly simple to use. All you need is once in a while a mac or pc to plug it in with the usb connector to charge it and maybe download the movies. It comes with a software FlipShare for both mac and pc, that allows you to transfer, email, upload the movies to the usual sites.
Reading a couple of reviews people were amazed by the quality of the videos. I only had it for one day, but so far I’m not sensationally blasted away. My Lumix LX 3 can do far more better movies. Then again: the camera is a bit more expensive and sophisticated :).
Err… Correction: the Lumix LX3 does worse movies. The Flip Mino actually does nice movies.
What made me buy it? I don’t feel like carrying around my camera all the time or even take it for instance to a concert. The Flip Mino HD comes in handy here. I’ll see how it goes.
With the temperatures rising the wardrobe changes, and this morning I decided to go for a pair of jeans I hardly wear. Because I had to grab it from the “hidden” stack of jeans, I suddenly held my skinny jeans in my hands. Alright. I didn’t fit into them since probably 1 1/2 years. I decided I was strong enough to give it another try. And … they fit. Not only just barely. They fit perfectly. Oh boy. That just made my day!
Haha! That’s hilarious!
Just watched the beginning of the first episode of the new L Word season. First woman appearing is Lucy Lawless aka Xena. Having seen all Xena (and – and I’m not ashamed of it – all Hercules) seasons the Xena character had a very close friendship to her sidekick Gabrielle which was sometimes implied to be more than a friendship, but never actually turned into a relationship. Gave the whole series a rather spicy twist. From my point of view also due to the testosterone laden appearance of Ares.
Unfortunately googeling Lucy’s part in the L Word it’s only a guest role. I would have liked to see her as one of the ladies.
Went into a sneaker store in Singapore the other day and saw some super sexy golden Onitsukas (Mexico Baja 66). I decided not to buy them because I didn’t have enough space left in my luggage and because we have an exclusive Onitsuka Tiger store in Zurich. So I head in there today just to figure out they don’t have that pair. Oh crap! But I found an even better one 🙂
Last Thursday after work I wandered to my <ironic>favorite</ironic> Orange shop to set my name on the proclaimed endless waiting list for the new iPhone 3G. My spirits rose as I saw three people leave the shop with a white cute iPhone labeled box and an eager-to-get-home-to-try-it-out look on their fresh owners faces.
As I mentioned about 200 times before on this blog: my biggest weakness is patience. So I tried to focus on the people in the store to shorten the time until it was my turn. Actually I believe you could do an interesting social study in a mobile phone store. People get quite sensitive when it comes to their mobile phones. Some elderly lady insisted that she wanted the same age old Motorola. As she was told, that they don’t make that model anymore, she wanted one that doesn’t cost more than 21.-
Finally I was called and told my very nice Orange person that I wanted a 16gb in white. She went into a secret corner and came forward with another of those magic little iPhone labeled boxes. I guess I had a grin from ear to ear on my face. Unfortunately she wanted my c permit. So I had to do a round trip back home and back into the store. Well. Other people are on that waiting list and are still waiting.
So here we are. It’s a fascinating little gadget. I’m not really used to having the internet in my pocket at all times yet, but I’m confident I’ll adapt quickly. As I listen to lots of music during the day I’ll probably have to get used to charging more often … or run out of battery power in the evenings. Meaning no more internet or anything else in my pocket.
By the way: 3G neither means third generation nor 3g processor. It means it can communication over 3G networks which are supposed to be massively faster than EDGE.
For Star Wars fans: try PhoneSaber.
When I was a young teen, I though Chucks were really cool. Like almost all of my friends and class mates. But I didn’t get any because they were to expensive, and my mom thought that rubber stuff can’t be good for my feet.
A couple of years later I got fake white Chucks, that I also used on the tennis ground. Which turned them into that funky reddish color of tennis grounds.
My first real Chucks I got about three or four years back. Almost into my thirties… And that pair died today. Orange. So I’d like to honor them with a minute of silence…
<a minute later>
But I got myself a new pair already. I thought – at my age – I’d probably go a bit more sophisticated. White leather. With orange laces.
I get why a haircut for a women is usually more expensive than for a men, but why are perfumes for men always cheaper than the ones for women?
The good thing though is that they slowly, slowly get more experimental on the male perfume side as well (I guess since being metrosexual and androgyn is considered hip). It’s worth to check out new male perfumes. Especially if you like musty, sandalwoody, ambery, and incensy smells.
My current favorite being Black XS by Paco Rabanne. The female version smells like a jump into a Mon Cherie (ghee, they even have a website for that stuff!!!) chocolate box. The male version consists of lemon, sage, tagetes (top), cinnamon, praline (middle), ebony wood, black amber (base). I guess they guy below would never wear it, but no problem: I wear the perfume and take the guy with me …
